A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

At The University of Scranton, we are a community of faculty, staff and students who are inspired by the centuries-old tradition of Catholic and Jesuit education. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, believed that Jesuit education should be unique. Using the Latin words cura personalis, Ignatius called for a style of education that molds itself to each individual.

Our faculty and staff are selflessly devoted to the success of our students and to helping them fulfill their potential as they find their place in the world. Our students care for each other and create a sense of community that is beyond compare.

They are also motivated by the magis, a restless desire for excellence grounded in gratitude. Ignatius experienced this desire as a result of gratitude for all the gifts he had received. We expect much from our students because admission to Scranton says so much about their talent and potential. We expect much from ourselves as well, striving always to improve the living and learning environment.

At Scranton, our students, faculty and staff are challenged by a rich and personal approach to education in the context of a dynamic University that prepares them to be agents of change in the world.

Kevin P. Quinn, S.J., President
